Joint statement by the Cuban chapter of the Network of Intellectuals, Artists and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity, the internationalist collective Juntas por Palestina and the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity to the Peoples
Words are not enough to describe the horror and fury, nor how painful are the daily killings in Palestine at the hands of the Israeli entity. Not enough to narrate the daily hell of those trapped in Gaza, nor the repudiation that deserves the inaction of governments and international institutions. They will never be able to express the consternation caused by the annihilation of an entire people.
Words are hardly enough, also, to refer to the greatness of a people that does not give up, reinventing itself every day in the midst of the grotesque exercise of extermination that the invader intends. Hunger, the bombs, the thirst, the silence of the powerful of the world have not achieved to erase their love for life and their land, the pride of resisting, despite everything.
For more than a century, the Palestinian lands have been in the sights of the colonialist powers. It will soon be eighty years since these powers decided to take their territory away from the inhabitants of Palestine, in order to found a new state there, which has not ceased its efforts to reduce their living space, confine them and annihilate them.
The imperialist plunder and racism turned into international politics are at the root of this crime, and explain the interest of the West in masking the truth and imposing an amnestic story that ignores its deep roots, and wants us to believe that it all began on October 7, 2023.
Palestine needs us, all of us: a global and popular movement that denounces the lie in any scenario, and recognizes the Israeli genocide as what it is (not a war and much less a conflict).
Palestine needs a permanently active common front:
that grants no respite to the Zionist entity, nor to its accomplices and cover-ups;
that relentlessly accuses those who supply bombs that destroy hospitals, schools and refugee camps;
that denounces those who give privileged treatment in their commercial and political relations with the aggressor;
that identifies those who benefit from and progress with the stolen goods from the Palestinian people;
unmasking any attempt to legitimize the perpetrators of genocide.
Had it not been for the open or shameful support from most of the most powerful Western governments, and the complicity of the more reactionary Arab governments, the slaughter would have stopped. But we cannot expect them to react on their own or rely on someone’s good will. Nor can we look away or remain impassive in the attempt to erase an entire people from the face of the earth. Nothing can justify silence or connivance with horror.
While we share this urgent demand, the Israeli army initiated the second phase of the operation “Gedeon’s Chariots” to occupy Gaza and controls the city gates with total impunity; the United Nations declares -belatedly, as if it would be necessary to confirm the tens of thousands of assassinations ordered by Benjamin Netanyahu- the “famine in the Gaza Strip”;
More than nine thousand Palestinian prisoners remain in subhuman conditions in the occupier Israeli’s prisons, including children, women and the sick; and the balance of the current stage of genocide amounts to over 62,000 fatalities and over 157,000 wounded.
Let us go out into the real and virtual streets, make our voices heard and make the Palestinian cause the cause of all the peoples of the world.
Long live life!
Long live the Palestinian resistance, which is the way a people has found to fight for its existence!
Long live free Palestine from the river to the sea!
