1. The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations echoes the deep concern expressed by a large number of States in Latin America and the Caribbean over the recent deployment of US military forces in that region, including nuclear-capable assets, in a direct escalation of hostile actions and threats against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
2. The States members of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations recall, in this context, the Special Communiqué issued on 16 August 2025 and reiterate their condemnation and categorical rejection of the threat of the use of force against sovereignty, the territorial integrity and political independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
3. The Group of Friends for the Defense of the Charter of the United Nations expresses its strong support for all efforts aimed at asserting the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, while stressing that this declaration, issued by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in 2014, affirms the sovereign right of its peoples to determine their own destinies, Free from external interference, as well as their continued commitment to settle disputes by peaceful means, with the aim of eradicating forever the use or threat of force in the region.
